Graduate Scientist / Engineer - Water

HR Wallingford provides world-leading independent analysis, advice and support on disciplines ranging from engineering and environmental hydraulics, to the management of water and the water environment.

Do you want to join our team of rapidly growing enthusiastic and creative Water Resource Scientists?

We are looking to recruit a graduate scientist/engineer to be part of our Water Management Group to support a wide variety of technical work covering hydrology, water resources, freshwater environment and urban drainage (including sustainable drainage systems). We are keen to receive applications from recent graduates and those with up to three years' relevant work experience.

You will have:

  • a good degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, Mathematics (a higher degree in a relevant discipline would be advantageous);
  • good technical knowledge in more than one of the subject areas covered by the Water Group (as listed above);
  • good attention to detail, record keeping, presentation and report writing skills;
  • good numeracy, data analysis, computer literacy and problem solving skills;
  • some experience in programming (platforms we use include Python, .NET, R-script, Ruby script);
  • some experience using GIS (e.g. ArcView, QGIS);
  • some experience in developing or applying numerical models;
  • ability to work within a team to deliver common goals; and
  • ability to communicate effectively with team members and others as the need arises.

The opportunity to train to further develop your skillset will be provided as you will work closely with staff in the Water Group.
