Faculty of Environment, School of GeographyResearch Assistant in Peatland Hydrology and Chemistry(Full time, fixed term for 24 months)Commencing no later than 1 September 2009, you will work on a NERC funded project (EMBER: Effects of Moorland Burning on the Ecohydrology of River basins) which aims to determine the role of prescribed peatland vegetation burning on hydrology, water chemistry, sediment release and stream invertebrate communities. The post provides an opportunity for you to work on this novel project with a team of scientists at the forefront of their fields, to gain hands-on experience of sampling and analysis for a suite of hydrological and chemical variables, and to contribute to research publication in prestigious international journals. As well as working with a dynamic group of leading peatland scientists you will join the River Basin Processes and Management research cluster within the School of Geography. The school and cluster forms part of the wider water@leeds research network. You will have a minimum first degree (2i or above) in Geography, Environmental Science or similar subject. You will be enthusiastic and have experience of field sampling and laboratory chemical analyses, and possess excellent team work and communication skills. Travel will be involved for field work.
