PhD position at the Department of Water and Environmental Studies,

Linköping University, Sweden

How do greenhouse gas emissions from aquatic environments affect whole landscape greenhouse gas budgets?

This PhD project is a part of a larger project with the aim to study landscape scale greenhouse gas (GHG) balances accounting for all landscape compartments. An important question is to what extent GHG emissions from aquatic environments can counteract the net carbon dioxide uptake by the surrounding terrestrial environment. This particular PhD project will be a key component in the larger project by focusing specifically on the transport of carbon and GHGs to and from lakes and running water in the study area. The research will be performed in close collaboration with groups at five additional Swedish universities providing an extensive network.

Deadline of application: 2011-10-24.
