Senior Research Fellow - Mathematical modelling of groundwater flow/mass transport in poorly productive fractured bedrock aquifers

School of Planning, Architecture and Civil Engineering Ref: 09/101162 The Groundwater Research Group (GRG) is currently undertaking a €1.78m Griffith Geoscience Award study of the Hydrogeology of Irish poorly productive aquifers. Available for a period of four years, funded under the Irish Government's Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2006-2013 as part of the National Development Plan 2007-2013 directed through the Geological Survey of Ireland.

The GRG wishes to engage a mathematical (numerical) modeller capable of simulating groundwater flow and/or mass transport in poorly productive fractured bedrock aquifers. The researcher will work in a multidisciplinary team of geologists, geophysicists, geochemists, hydrogeologists and hydrologists with the overall goal of improving the current understanding of groundwater behaviour in Irish poorly productive bedrock aquifers, and how groundwater in these units influences the wider hydrological cycle.

Anticipated interview date: Wednesday 13 January 2010.
Salary scale: £36,532 - £44,930 per annum.
Closing date: 4.00 pm, Friday 4 December 2009.
