Lecturer in Hydrology

School of Human & Environmental Sciences

This appointment is full-time, permanent and starts on 1 September 2008
Grade 7 – £30,913 to £41,545 per annum


A Lecturer in Hydrology is required within the School of Human and Environmental Sciences to expand the range of teaching and research excellence within the University of Reading in Hydrosciences research.

We are especially interested in candidates with an expertise in biogeochemistry, but are willing to consider those with expertise in other areas of hydrological research. We are seeking a candidate with a track record of research, an interest in inter-disciplinary research and an ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

You will have:
  • a track record of publication in international peer-reviewed journals, and experience of securing research funding and project completion
  • experience of teaching hydrology or a closely related topic at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
  • ideally, a track record of postgraduate student supervision, or the commitment to take part in such activities
  • ideally, experience of inter-disciplinary or multi-disciplinary research, or the commitment to take part in such activities
  • evidence of engagement with relevant research organisations and/or activities at national and/or international level
The appointee will join HYDRA, a multi-institutional hydrosciences research association and have access to training at the Centre for Staff Training and Development.
