Seeking World-Class Students and
Post-Doctoral Fellows in Water-Related Research
The Global Institute for Water Security (GIWS) at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) is building a $30+ million interdisciplinary experimental and modelling research programme including hydrology, eco-hydrology, and water quality studies in the spectacular settings of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, boreal forest, and prairies. This major investment builds on our existing research laboratories on campus and in the Kananaskis River Valley, Alberta, and includes new state-of-the-art field research infrastructure at multiple sites, and enhanced climate, hydrological, and water quality modelling capability.
We invite applications for graduate studentships and post-doctoral fellowships for field and modelling research in the following areas. For more information and full listings, visit www.usask.ca/water.
Rocky Mountain Hydrology & Ecohydrology
- Groundwater - surface water - atmosphere interactions in cold region mountain environments (1 PDF, 3 PhD students, 1 MSc student). Ecohydrology of treelines and of beaver-mediated peatlands (2 PhD students).
Agricultural Water Quality & Beneficial Management Practices in the Prairies
- Hydrological and biogeochemical modelling of prairie environments (1 PDF, 1 PhD student, 1 MSc student). Stream biogeochemistry and indicators of aquatic ecosystem health (2 MSc students).
Land Surface-Atmosphere Interactions in the Prairies & Boreal Forest
- Water and energy exchanges through the groundwater - soil - plant - atmosphere continuum in the boreal and prairie environments (3 PhD students, 1 MSc student).
Review of applications began on Monday, 16 January 2012 and will continue until suitable candidates are identified.
