Senior Lecturer (Maître-Assistant-e) in Hydrogeology/Geothermics

The Centre for Hydrogeology and Geothermics of the University of Neuchâtel (CHYN) is a leading center for research and education in the field of groundwater and geothermics.

The CHYN is looking for a

Senior Lecturer (Maître-Assistant-e) in Hydrogeology/Geothermics

The candidate has a Ph.D. in the field of Hydrogeology or Geothermics. She or he holds a Master of Sciences in Earth Sciences or related disciplines. The candidate has a strong interest in collaborative research at the frontier between hydrogeology / geothermics or other fields such as geology, environmental sciences, water resources management, etc. Extensive experience in hydrogeological field-methods is required. Experience in 3Dgeological modelling is an asset. Possible interactions with some of the existing research domains in the group (see www.unine.ch/chyn) are strongly encouraged.

The candidate is expected to give introductory lectures in the field of earth sciences, supervise lab sessions, and field courses for BSc and MSc students. The acquisition of competitive funds (e.g. Swiss National Science Foundation) is expected.

The CHYN offers a stimulating research environment with about 50 collaborators. The candidates will benefit from a comprehensive pool of field and laboratory equipment, access to state-of-the-art modelling and computational infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Hydrogeology or Geothermics and MSc in Earth Sciences or related fields (max. 10 years since obtaining Ph.D.)
  • Proven ability to teach and conduct independent research at an international level
  • A strong publication track record in high-ranking journals

Appointment

  • 75 % position (can be extended to 100 % with external contracts)
  • The initial appointment is for 4 years – it can be renewed once for 2 years.
  • Teaching at the Bachelor level should be given in French

Starting date: 1st of October 2022.
