Post-Doctoral Opportunity at UNSW Sydney - Lakes Hydrology Study
Project: An exciting multi-disciplinary project is underway to examine the iconic Thirlmere Lakes National Park, southwest of Sydney (Australia). The lakes have experienced periods of rapid drying and the hydrological functioning of the lake system is being investigated through a multi-disciplinary team including hydrogeologists, geochemists and hydrologists. This advertisement is for a 2.5 year appointment for a surface-groundwater hydrologist. Other appointments are being advertised separately.
Position Description: Surface and Groundwater Hydrology. The successful postdoc candidate will be responsible for climate, meteorological and related surface and groundwater field investigations to calculate the water balance of an iconic wetland over various temporal and spatial domains. The successful candidate will have a strong skillset in hydrology, data set analyses, the use of field equipment to measure novel processes and the publishing these results in high quality journals.
Pre-requisites: The successful candidate is expected to have a doctorate in Environmental Engineering or similar qualifications in the area of hydrology, physics or science. The selected candidate will be expected to lead multi-disciplinary field investigations and work with a broader team to link surface water dynamics with groundwater dynamics. A strong track record in communicating research to stakeholders is preferred.
