Opportunity The Department of Physical Sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Earth and Planetary Sciences, with a focus on Climate, Paleoclimate Reconstruction or Environmental Earth Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position commences July 1, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval. The Department of Physical Sciences includes faculty in Earth and Planetary Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics, and values interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and in research. The preferred candidate will be expected to teach introductory Earth and Planetary Science courses and laboratories, as well as Anthropogenic Climate Change and Paleoclimatology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop courses in their area of expertise and develop a research program and engage in service. Applicants should demonstrate excellence, or a clear promise of excellence, in teaching undergraduate-level courses, and have a Ph.D., or demonstrable evidence of impending completion of a terminal degree in Earth Sciences or a related field. In addition, applicants should demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and student mentorship. Applications should include a curriculum vitae and a cover letter discussing opportunities for synergy with current teaching and research in the department and demonstrating a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Applicants should also include a teaching dossier of up to 5 pages, composed of a teaching philosophy, teaching record, and interests and plans for teaching at MacEwan University, as well as recent teaching evaluations. A research dossier of up to 3 pages, including current research and future plans, and in particular, a discussion of how they will support undergraduate student research, will round out a complete application package.
