The Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG) is an independent research institute in Hannover that develops and operates specialised information systems such as the Geothermal Information System GeotIS. The recently approved project "WärmeGut" is an eminent major research project at the LIAG for geothermal energy to support the heat transition in Germany. For this we are looking for a scientific web developer (m/f/d).

Your tasks:

  • Modification of the user interface of the web-based information system GeotIS
  • Implementation of new features
  • Carrying out thermophysical measurements / servicing equipment
  • Processing of geological and geophysical data
  • Integration of new data (also as maps) into GeotIS
  • Technical documentation
  • Collaboration in an agile development team

Required qualifications and experience:

  • University degree in geophysics, geology, geoinformatics or a similar subject with a master's degree
  • English language skills (at least comparable to level B2 GeR)
  • Experience in the development of web applications
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript and web frameworks
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ideally, you also meet the following requirements:

  • Knowledge of geoscientific methods and parameters relevant for geothermal energy
  • Working knowledge of OGC services
  • Database and SQL skills
  • Experience in managing geodata
