Postdoctoral Research Associate - Biodiversity mapping and PA's optimization
The Landscape Lab at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is looking for an exceptional scientist interested in working at the interface of regional biodiversity mapping and protected areas (PA's) optimization. The applicant will work with Prof. Yang Bai at XTBG on a NSFC funded project. Please check the Landscape Lab website: http://groups.xtbg.cas.cn/leg/xtbg_bEN/
The project focuses on biodiversity spatial modeling and drivers and PA's optimization for Southeast Asia. This project aims to interpret how human activities and climate change may impact on the distribution and richness of biodiversity. The maintenance mechanism of biodiversity and habitat will be revealed to provide a feasible basis for the optimization of PA's. The scope of the position provides strong opportunities for the applicant to make rapid career progress on high-impact problems of both fundamental and applied relevance. There are also opportunities to work on other projects in the lab and to spend time on new research and general career development.
Minimum qualifications are a PhD in biological or ecological sciences or other related. Preferred qualifications include statistical, GIS skills, strong publication record for the professional stage of the applicant, and strong writing skills. This position is funded for one year and can be expanded based on the performance and funding availability. Salary is negotiable, with insurance and benefits package.
To apply, applicants should send cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references to Dr. Yang Bai (firstname.lastname@example.org) by October 31 2022. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

XTBG has long been a strategy to emphasize the combination of research and education and interdisciplinary cooperation. XTBG offers Master's and Ph.D. programs in ecology and in plant sciences, as well as a professional master's degree program in biological engineering. XTBG has developed substantial ties with international organizations and with botanical gardens, universities and academic research institutions in more than 50 countries/regions. Each year, more than 200 foreign scientists come to XTBG for international conferences, workshops and training courses or to conduct research or pursue academic degrees.
