Environmental Science and Geology Lecturer

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Central Michigan University invites applications for a part-time 0.50 FTE Fixed-Term faculty position in Environmental Science and Geology beginning in August 2024. This appointment is for the 2024-2025 academic year, with a possibility of renewal. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in biogeochemical cycling and hydrologic processes, as well as survey-level courses in environmental science or geology.

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in environmental science, geology, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills. Potential for outstanding teaching. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is housed in the College of Science and Engineering. We offer B.S. degrees in Meteorology, Environmental Science, and Geology and participate in an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Earth and Ecosystems Science. The expertise of EAS faculty members spans the Earth sciences, including petrology, hydrology, environmental modeling, geophysics, geochemistry, climatology, and meteorology. The geology and environmental science programs benefit from an extensive collection of earth science teaching materials and field sampling equipment.
