![]() Faculty Positions in Environmental Sciences for SustainabilityIE University invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in water system sciences and two pre-tenure-track faculty positions in a) environmental ecology and metagenomics, and b) environmental data sciences. The appointed faculty will be contributing directly to the development of our new bachelor's degree in environmental sciences for Sustainability - BESS and the design and development of diverse undergraduate and graduate programs. The faculty members will join the Environmental Sustainability area of the University, starting on September 1st, 2024. The ideal candidate for the tenure-track assistant professor in Sustainable Water Systems position will play a vital role in advancing the field of hydrologic science and water systems. Potential areas of research are: 1) Climate change impacts on water resources, 2) groundwater and critical zone water storage, 3) Innovations on wastewater treatment and management, 4) universal access to clean water and sanitation, 5) disaster risk and water management 6) blue economy among others. The ideal candidate for the pre-tenure-track faculty in Environmental Data Sciences position will play a major role in advancing our research on the applications of machine learning, AI and data sciences in: 1) sustainable water systems, 2) global carbon cycle and climate solutions, 3) environmental monitoring, 4) Earth Observations, 5) revolutions in biodiversity, 6) one-health, among others. The ideal candidate for the pre-tenure-track faculty in Environmental Ecology and Metagenomics position will have the ability to integrate the theoretical basis and methodologies coming from metagenomics (and other meta-omics) and ecology in one or more of the following research areas: 1) climate change, ecology and biodiversity, 2) environmental monitoring and cleanup, 3) industrial and environmental bioprospecting, 4) genetic resources, among others. Qualifications Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Sustainable Water Systems Minimum 3 years of postdoctoral experience, a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate-level teaching experience, a track record of advising both undergraduate and graduate students, and an exceptional track record of peer review publications, research funding acquisition and international transdisciplinary collaborations with governmental agencies and the industry. The candidate should also demonstrate experience in the design and implementation of citizen science and outreach programs. Pre-Tenure-Track Openings in in Ecology and Environmental Metagenomics & Environmental Data Sciences Recent completion of the Ph.D. and a maximum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience. A track record of peer-review publications according to experience and a minimum of one year of undergraduate-level teaching experience are required.
