Master's in Environmental Resource Science (MSc-ERS)
The new interdisciplinary Master of Science in Environmental Resource Science at UL Lafayette focuses on two of our world's most critical resources: water and soil. Our priority is to educate and prepare you for a professional career in which you will investigate, characterize and manage vital water and soil resources responsibly and effectively.
Our location in Lafayette, Louisiana, helps make the School of Geosciences one of the best places to earn your graduate degree in environmental resource science. We have close ties to a large number of industrial partners and government agencies with whom our students have had internships and gained well-compensated employment. With 40% of the country's freshwater wetlands located in our region, you will have an abundance of research, internship, and career opportunities in your own backyard.
Our environmental science graduate program emphasizes scholarly research and how to apply that research in industry. Our research areas include:
- water quality and resources,
- hydrogeology,
- wetland and coastal systems,
- climate reconstruction,
- isotope geochemistry,
- soil contamination and remediation, etc.
