The School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences wishes to appoint up to three lecturers in one or more of the following areas:

• Ecosystem resilience
• Environmental quality
• Energy transitions and climate change
• Geohazards and risk

The School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences is a large, interdisciplinary School with an enviable record of success. Our research and teaching activities address issues of sustainability on land and at sea, and we are seeking to appoint excellent candidates capable of advancing our inter-disciplinary activities. You will work within either or both of the physical and social sciences, demonstrate an ability to attract research funding and produce high-quality research outputs and / or impact, and teach into two of our programme areas (Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Geography and Geology).

The School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences comprises nearly 60 academic staff and enjoys excellent support from well-resourced laboratory facilities (including 16 technicians). As well as depth and breadth in and across our subject areas, we have strong academic links across the institution with for example the University's Sustainable Earth and Marine Institutes. Our staff members hold research income in excess of £13m from all major funding providers, and teach in excess of 1,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Successful candidates will be enthusiastic team players, and your enthusiasm for your area of expertise will extend to providing excellent teaching informed by professional practice, scholarship and your own research experience. You will have developed / be developing a track record of excellent academic research, commensurate with the level of appointment and compatible with one of the REF 2021 UoAs to which we are returning staff (6, 7 and 14). You will benefit from a positive and collegiate working environment that values and promotes excellence in all academic activities.

These are full-time positions working 37 hours per week. Two of these positions are permanent and one is for a fixed-term of four years due to funding.
