Postdoc (m/f/d) to establish the junior research group "Circularity in animal husbandry systems"

The position is part of the externally funded project ”Circular cattle farming systems in Hesse to strengthen the regional value chains for milk and meat (ZirKUH)" and is to be filled on a fixed-term basis in accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG with the opportunity for own academic qualification at the Chairs o Organic Farming with focus on sustainable soil use, Department of Agronomy and Plant Breeding II and the chair for Landscape, Water and Biogeochemical Cycles, Department of Landscape Ecology and Resources Management at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences, and Environmental Management. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 14 TV-H).

As long as the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract is not exceeded, you will be employed for a period of 3 years.

Your tasks at a glance

  • Development and coordination of the ZirKUH junior research group consisting of the coordinator and two doctoral positions (currently not yet filled, participation in the hiring process required)
  • Project and data management
  • Establishment and management of a network for "Circular cattle farming systems Hesse" with stakeholders from research, consulting, practice, processing and trade in the sense of a living lab approach
  • Systematic literature study and creation of a catalogue of measures and criteria for "Circular cattle farming systems in Hesse"
  • Collection and status quo analysis of farm data on existing circular approaches

The provision of academic services (including the processing of a research project financed by third party funds on a temporary basis) also serves the purpose of academic qualification.

Your qualifications and competences

  • Completed Master‘s or equivalent university degree and doctorate in livestock farming or agricultural sciences with competences in environmental sciences
  • Experiences and competencies in practical farming
  • Experience in database management
  • Leadership skills, willingness to cooperate, ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment, ability to work in a team
  • Good oral and written presentation skills in English and German, ability to work in a team and communication skills, leadership competencies
  • International driving license (equivalent to the German class B) is advantageous
