The School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment is seeking a highly motivated Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer to develop excellence in research and teaching in the broad subject area of Physical Geography. The School is a globally leading centre of research and education in Earth and Environmental Sciences and is educating the next generation of scientists to find environmental solutions for our society and planet.
In this role, you will be expected to develop and lead a new research team in the School, bringing fresh perspectives and novel research directions. Our current strengths in Physical Geography are in Climate Impacts and Adaptation, Coastal Science, Cryospheric Sciences, Environmental Geochemistry, GIS and Remote Sensing, Earth and Planetary Surface Processes, Hydrogeology and Hydrology, and Soil Science. We seek a new colleague who can build on and leverage this expertise in any field of Physical Geography and the broader earth and environmental sciences. Expertise may include field studies, laboratory-based sciences, satellite or drone-based remote sensing, numerical modelling, and/or data science.
The successful candidate will actively engage in teaching into a diverse range of undergraduate courses in the School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment, the Masters of Environment and Sustainability, and/or the new Masters in Geographical Information Science and Technology.
The successful candidate will have a doctoral qualification in Physical Geography or a relevant Earth Science discipline. You will have the capacity to develop and lead a creative, high quality research program, to be an effective and innovative teacher, and to contribute positively to the scholarly activities of the School, Faculty and broader University community.
