As part of an on-going programme of investment and development, the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Cardiff University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Land-Vegetation-Atmosphere Interactions.

The successful candidate will show evidence of ability to develop and sustain an internationally recognised, externally funded interdisciplinary research programme in land-vegetation-atmosphere interactions. A strong commitment to research aimed at helping address major societal problems and an interest in emerging and developing countries is also desirable. We are especially interested in hiring academics who research: the interactions between the Earth's surface, soil, vegetation and the atmosphere, ideally supported by environmental modelling and/or data science; feedbacks associated with vegetation change on a range of spatial and/or temporal scales; environmental feedback loops investigated through predictive modelling; and who can develop synergies within our existing research portfolio in climate and environmental change.

The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences is a lively and dynamic community that aims to promote sustainability through education, dissemination, and direct participation, enabling students and staff to make positive changes to our environmental impact, in particular supporting Cardiff University's declaration of a Climate Emergency and aim to become carbon neutral (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2030.

The School is also committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for promoting inclusive working practices in STEMM subjects in higher education. Staff and students from the School are active members of the global Unlearning Racism in Geoscience (URGE) community. We particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority because they are under-represented within the School at these levels.
