Overview of CDUT
Chengdu University of Technology was originally established on March 15, 1956 with the approval of the State Council. On March 27, the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Geology jointly issued a document based on the engineering departments of the Geology Department of Chongqing University, Northwestern University and Nanjing University. At the same time, some cadres and teachers of Beijing College of Geology and Northeast College of Geology were selected to establish Chengdu College of Geology and Exploration. Chengdu College of Geological Exploration changed its name to Chengdu College of Geology in 1958. Chengdu College of Geology changed its name to Chengdu College of Technology in 1993.
Since 2001, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Chengdu University of Technology has been successively established under the guidance of the Ministry of Geology, the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Land and Resources. In 2000, it became a provincial key university co-constructed by the central and local governments, mainly administrated by Sichuan Provincial People's Government. On November 3, 2010, the Ministry of Land and Resources and Sichuan Provincial People's Government signed an agreement on co-construction of Chengdu University of Technology. In September 2017, CDUT was listed as one of the universities for the national initiative of "World-Class Disciplines".
With over 60 years of construction and development, CDUT has become a multi-disciplinary polytechnic university, strong in geology, energy, resource science, nuclear technology and environment science, and characterized by chemical engineering, materials, electronics, mechanics, information technology and management science. It has the right to grant bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees.
CDUT gives high priority to external cooperation and communication. It has set up long-term industry-university-research cooperative relations with large state enterprises and research institutes in the fields of resources, energy, environment, architecture, military and high-and-new technology, and also established international cooperation and communication relations with over 60 universities and scientific research institutes in UK, Canada, Russia, USA, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Italy, etc. Four Sino-foreign cooperation projects are being held with Staffordshire University and Oxford Brooks University in the UK.
In 2019, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Oxford Brooks College of Chengdu University of Technology. CDUT has received over 2,800 overseas experts and students from more than 40 countries and regions for lecture or study at CDUT, sent over 700 persons abroad for academic visits and conducted over 300 joint research programs.
In addition, CDUT has also hosted a variety of international academic conferences such as "iRALL School" (international doctoral training course on field data collection, monitoring, and modelling of large landslides of the International Research Association on Large Landslides (iRALL)), "Ico-D-SEIC-CDUT-Shenkar International Design Project" (international design project collaborated by CDUT and Shenkar College of Engineering and Design of Israel), "International Joint Teaching Project of CDUT and Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication".

CDUT provides scholarship for international students as follows:
For doctoral candidates: registration fee (600 RMB) free, tuition (24000 RMB per year) free, accommodation fee (1500 RMB per year) free, insurance fee (800 RMB per year) free, and living allowance 1500 RMB per month (ten month per academic year for 4 years of study).
For master degree candidates: registration fee (600 RMB) free, tuition (19800 RMB per year) free, accommodation fee (1500 RMB per year) free, insurance fee (800 RMB per year) free, and living allowance 1000 RMB per month. (ten month per academic year for 3 years of study.)
For undergraduates: living allowance 800 RMB per month. (ten month per academic year for 4 years of study.)
