to start on 01.04.2024 or soon thereafter, initially funded for a period of 3 years The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U).

The research of the Sedimentology Group focuses on the dynamics of marine and terrestrial sedimentary systems and their response to climate change.

We are looking for a motivated applicant with knowledge of geological processes and Earth system dynamics. Applicants must have an MSc degree and a PhD in geosciences or geology, and be fluent in written and spoken English. In particular, analytical skills in phase analysis and/or inorganic geochemistry are highly appreciated. The job involves teaching the field of sedimentology in the Bachelor and Master curricula in the field and laboratory (4 hours per week during the semester).

The Institute of Geosciences offers a creative research environment and an excellent analytical infrastructure. This position offers young researchers the opportunity to develop their own third-party funded research field. We expect the applicant to be able to work independently, to contribute to ongoing and planned research projects and to supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
