THE DR. EDUARD GÜBELIN RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP

for the advancement of gemmological science

Founded in 1923, the Gübelin Gem Lab is one of the oldest and most renowned gemmological laboratories in the world, providing authenticity reports for gemstones and gem materials and engaging in research projects to improve our understanding of the geology and geochemistry of gem-forming deposits and processes.

The Dr. Eduard Gübelin Association for Research & Identification of Precious Stones provides funding and support - financial, organisational and infrastructural - for an annual research project in the field of earth sciences (geology, mineralogy, geochemistry), crystallography, solid state physics, material sciences, or a related scientific discipline.

The total annual value of the scholarship is CHF 30,000, granted to a MSc, PhD or post-doctoral researcher proposing a truly innovative research project, with demonstrable novel thinking; it must venture into new areas, test new concepts and methods, and hence contribute to the advancement of gemmological knowledge. The minimum requirement for applicants is a BSc degree in earth sciences, chemistry, physics, material sciences or science related field.
