![]() Project Geologist
NTGS is looking for a motivated geoscientist to join a group focused on multidisciplinary projects to better understand the geological framework of the onshore sedimentary basins of the Northern Territory. This position will work as part of a small team focused on mapping at 1:250,000 scale the outcropping geology of the Amadeus Basin, a Neoproterozoic to Devonian intracratonic basin with a complex history of deposition and deformation, covering about 170 000 sq km of central Australia. Primary responsibilities of the position include interpretation of remote sensed imagery, integration of pre-existing data, geological field mapping, compilation of maps using GIS, writing reports and updating datasets. This is a rare opportunity to do fundamental geoscientific work in a well exposed sedimentary basin where there are significant stratigraphic and structural questions to address and scope to make exciting new geological discoveries. We are seeking geoscientific skill sets relevant to regional-scale geological mapping and the integration of a variety of datasets to further our understanding of this complex basin.
