Are you looking for a role where you can use your (geo)physics/mathematics, signal processing, and coding knowledge to develop advanced wave-based imaging software and make a contribution towards technology for future use in climate adaptation in civil engineering as well? Then come and join us at Quantairra Research and Development Services, located in the building of one of Europe's leading incubators (YES!Delft) on the campus of Delft University of Technology, and help us further develop our advanced data-processing software. You would work as a scientific software developer in our growing team of four people and would be part of an innovative and vibrant technology-oriented startup community. Your primary responsibility will be to help develop advanced signal processing and imaging algorithms and software. Initial focus will be on software development for application in seismic subsurface imaging/inversion. At a later stage, other types of data will be used to improve imaging/inversion in settings with a focus on sustainable civil engineering for climate adaptation and structural health monitoring. Key responsibilities

  • Seismic data-processing software development for advanced seismic imaging algorithms in C (possibly C++ and Python)
  • Actively participate in R&D on advanced seismic imaging/inversion with applications in the area of climate adaptation and structural health monitoring

Qualifications / Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Geophysics, Computational Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related fields with demonstrated knowledge of signal processing
  • 3+ years of relevant software development experience in digital signal processing and scientific programming in C and at least 2 years Python programming experience
  • You are ambitious, take initiative, thrive in a creative working environment, are a team-player and have a resilient and persistent character
  • You are excited about the opportunities and challenges related to working in a small team at a startup
  • You are fluent in English and have excellent interpersonal and verbal as well as written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Legal authorization to work in Europe

Even better if

  • Knowledge of or experience with seismic data-processing, imaging/inversion and (internal) multiple elimination
  • Experience with seismic-data-processing-related code development
  • Experience with C++
  • Experience with parallel programming using openMP and MPI
  • Familiarity with Seismic Unix or Madagascar and seismic data formats
  • Online certificates in data-science high-level specializations from MOOCs, such as Coursera, Udacity, Stanford, MIT, and familiarity with toolkits such as TensorFlow, Keras, Pytorch, Scikit-learn

  • Estimated base salary range: euro 56k - 78k dependent on level of experience and education
  • Attractive annual performance bonus up to 10% dependent on level of experience
