Scientific coworker, BMWK-funded project DoPaTV monitoring of fracture processes during fluid injection

The Institute of Geology, Minerology and Geophysics at Ruhr-Universität Bochum is looking for a scientific coworker (TV-L13, 2 years) in a cooperative, BMWK-funded project DoPaTV, which aims at integrating a commercial acoustic borehole televiewer into a double-packer probe for in-situ monitoring of fracture processes during fluid injection. The work packages of the party at RUB involve:

  1. Project coordination and reporting, publication
  2. Finalizing prototype design
  3. Participation in autoclave tests
  4. Coordinating, preparing, conducting, and evaluating field tests at tests sites Kemnader See and Reiche Zeche (Germany)
  5. Development of a software package for analysis of borehole images

The successful candidate will have a master degree or PhD in geoscience, engineering, or related science disciplines. An affinity to software coding is necessary, and experience with image analyses and pattern recognition are beneficial. Willingness to participate in field tests (including in a mine environment) will be appreciated. Proficiency in written and spoken English is a necessity.
