Two Geologists and One Geophysicist at the Assistant/Associate Professor Rank

The Department of Earth Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University is a vibrant and growing department located at the heart of the petroleum industry in the Middle East.

We are currently seeking two geologists and one geophysicist at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank in the following fields:

  1. Mining geology: a PhD degree in mining geology and preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in the field of mineralogy or geochemistry,
  2. Structural geology: a PhD degree in structural geology and strong background in field geology is highly recommended.
  3. Geophysics: a PhD degree in Electric/Electromagnetic/Magnetic Geophysics and preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in geophysical data acquisition.

Consideration will be given to candidates having a good record of international publications, industry experience and reasonable university teaching experience. The position will require teaching at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels and offers an excellent opportunity to conduct both independent and collaborative research with local industry. The appointment will be made at either the assistant or associate professor level, based on experience.
