1 Postdoctoral and 2 PhD positions in mantle petrology

LITHO3 is an ERC funded project that aims to quantifying the formation and evolution of the cratonic lithosphere. The project is led by Dr Emma Tomlinson and is based at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. We are currently recruiting:

1 x Research Fellow in experimental petrology (PDRA2) - this 4 year post will be undertaken in collaboration with Prof. Mike Walter (Carnegie Institute of Washington) and will involve multi-anvil press experiments to investigate phase equilibria to the transition zone and peridotite-melt reaction in the cratonic lithosphere. Further information can be found via this link.

2 x PhD studentships in mantle petrology (PhD1 and PhD2) for two projects titled "Quantifying the melting conditions of Archaean peridotites" and "Quantifying the thickness of the cratonic lithosphere over time". Further information can be found via these links: PhD1 and PhD2

The LITHO3 project will involve a team of 7 researchers and further positions will be advertised in spring/summer 2023 (2 x PDRA and 1 x MSc).
