UCD School of Earth Sciences
013033 UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2
Temporary 3 years (available immediately)
GREENPEG seeks an experienced postdoctoral researcher (at least 2 years postdoctoral experience in a relevant geoscience area) to join its H2020-funded European team working to develop new mineral exploration 'toolkits' for rare metal and other pegmatites that combine geological, geochemical and geophysical methods.
The successful candidate will collect rock, soil and stream sediment samples in several European study areas; carry out and interpret petrographic, whole-rock geochemical, QEMSCAN and LA-ICP-MS geochemical mapping of rock and stream sediment samples; interrogate, and upload data to, GIS databases; publish research results in peer-reviewed journals; develop working relationships with other GREENPEG partners; and thereby contribute to development of the GREENPEG pegmatite exploration 'toolkits'.
This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. Laboratory experience in applying in situ geochemical analysis and in using GIS databases are essential, as is a proven track record of publication in a relevant area of geoscience.
