![]() 5-year Senior Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Environmental GeochemistryThe laboratory for Environmental Geochemistry of the Department of Environmental Geosciences (EDGE) at the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science of the University of Vienna will be seeking applicants for a 5-year fully funded senior postdoctoral scholar position (2 years with 3 years extension). We invite applicants with research interests and experience to complement or extend the group's research interests in areas including mineral surface chemistry, pollutant and nutrient biogeochemistry, and bio-mineral interactions. Experience in applying spectroscopic methods (e.g. X-ray absorption or vibrational spectroscopy) to studying geochemical processes would be particularly welcome. Completion of a PhD is a prerequisite for this position. Previous postdoctoral experience would be advantageous but is not essential. The successful candidate will take on the role of Junior Group Leader with responsibilities including the development of research ideas, writing proposals, and acquiring funding, (co-)advising a group of PhD students and teaching on the English language Environmental Science MSc program. We have excellent laboratory infrastructure for spectroscopy, trace metal analytics and mineral characterization, plant and microbial cultivation, as well as labs for experimental work in geochemistry including a clean room laboratory and labs for working under reducing conditions. The working and teaching language is English. The application of female candidates is strongly encouraged. Please send in your application including CV, and a 1-page statement of research interests by December 8th to Prof. Stephan Kraemer (stephan.kraemer@univie.ac.at). |
