Senior Engineer

Who we are:

An exciting opportunity has become available to work within the UK's largest privately owned, independent, ground investigation contractor. We take pride in delivering an extensive range of ground investigation services covering simple trial pit investigations to multi-million-pound major schemes across the UK. Our clients range from Highways England, Network Rail, and local councils through to smaller private development schemes.

What you'll be doing:

You'll work within an established team of fellow Senior Engineers as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Working alongside our in-house Contract Managers, you will be responsible for driving the technical deliverables of a job. Tasks would include briefing field staff, attending site as necessary, and producing and checking technical deliverables for issue to the Client - ranging from geological logs, in situ testing data, monitoring data and reporting.

You'll likely have a range of jobs, from one or two-day ground investigations to longer term projects spanning several months. The role will involve predominantly office-based reporting with site attendance as required, although there may be a requirement for office-based work on site for some of our larger projects.

Who this role would suit:

The ideal applicant would have a proven track record of managing/overseeing the technical deliverables of a project on site and have experience in the delivery of factual reports. We are looking for someone who can utilise their time management and organisational skills to meet deliverable deadlines in a busy and competitive sector. You must be flexible and able to effectively communicate and manage internal and external stakeholder expectations.

A good understanding of BS5930 and technical knowledge of logging soils and rocks is crucial, alongside a thorough understanding of ground investigation exploratory techniques, in situ testing and monitoring. Meticulous attention to detail is essential.

Proficiency in the use of Open Ground software, or equivalent HoleBase is required.

What we can offer:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Exposure to a wide range of ground investigation projects across the UK.
  • Mentoring of junior staff.
  • Car allowance.
  • Pension contribution scheme.

Closing date: 31st May 2021.

Interviews: Successful applicants will be invited to interview at our office in Gloucester.
