GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel is a foundation of public law jointly financed by the Federal Republic of Germany (90 %) and the state of Schleswig-Holstein (10 %) and is one of the internationally leading institutions in the field of marine sciences. In the framework of the EU-project T-SECTOR (Testing solid earth climate connections through mid ocean ridge time series), the research divisions Dynamics of the Ocean Floor and Ocean Circulation and Climate Dynamics are searching for a

Scientist (m/f/d) for project management

Tasks:

  • Administrative project management in cooperation with the principal investigators (especially preparation of reports and support of internal administrative procedures)
  • Communication between funding agency and project partners, in particular entering project information/data in online portals and document management system
  • Support for accounting and controlling of the project budget
  • Project-related outreach activities and responsibility for the internet presence
  • Organization of project meetings and project-related travel

Qualification:

  • Academic degree (preferably in geosciences)
  • Interest in and motivation for the management of a European Research Council project at the interface between science, administration and funding agency
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and German
  • Ability to work in a team (being proactive), as well as good communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with relevant IT programs (e.g. Ms Office, Powerpoint, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Project management experience

Advantageous for the position are:

  • Experience with EU-funded projects
  • Experience with TYPO3

The position is temporary for an initial 2 years (with an option of extension to a total of 6.5 years). The temporal limitation is based on § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG.

The salary depends on qualification and could be up to the class E 13 (TVöD-Bund). The regular weekly working time corresponds to 50% of a full-time position. The position cannot be split, work times are flexible.
