Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Postdoctoral Investigator to join the Physical Oceanography Department. This is a temporary, full-time, exempt position, and is eligible for benefits. The initial appointment will be for two years.
PDI on coupled air-sea-wave modeling in the Arabian Sea
WHOI Physical Oceanography Department is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Investigator position in coupled air-sea-wave modeling in the Arabian Sea. The successful candidate will work on a project funded by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Arabian Sea Transition Layer (ASTraL) DRI (https://hseo.whoi.edu/astral/) to study wave impacts on air-sea fluxes and boundary layer processes from observations and coupled model simulations.
The appointment will be for 24 months, beginning in mid-2023. Qualified applicants must apply online. The documents should include a brief cover letter (1 page), a complete CV, and contact information (only) of 3 references. The review of applications will begin as the files are received and continue until the position is filled. Interested applicants should contact Hyodae Seo (email@example.com).
The institution has a top-rated postdoctoral program (www.whoi.edu/postdoctoral/) that supports a dynamic postdoctoral community with formal mentoring and career guidance programs. While the primary focus of the work will be in research, the Postdoctoral Investigator will have the opportunity to participate in educational and outreach activities associated with the project.
Online application forms should be submitted with a cover letter, complete curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation. Applications will be reviewed upon submission.
The candidate must have strong modeling and quantitative skills. Expertise in surface wave modeling and coupled ocean-atmosphere modeling is preferred. Experience with observational analyses of the upper ocean physics, air-sea fluxes, and/or atmospheric boundary layer processes in the Indian Ocean is also desirable. Applicants from historically underrepresented groups in oceanography and climate sciences are strongly encouraged to consider this opportunity.
