The Agnico Eagle - Eldorado Research Chair in Mineral Exploration

The Agnico Eagle - Eldorado Research Chair in Mineral Exploration is a 5-year major research initiative funded by NSERC and partners Agnico Eagle, Eldorado Gold and Ministère des Ressources Naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF) to study the metallogeny of orogenic gold deposits. The team comprises researchers from Université Laval (Profs G. Beaudoin, C. Guilmette, C. LaFlamme, and B. Rottier), and INRS-ETE (Prof. R. Soucy La Roche). The Chair offers a dynamic and collaborative training environment comprising more than thirty graduate students and research associates. Call for Candidates for Research Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with experience in mineral deposit geology, preferably but not exclusively, on orogenic gold in Archean terranes. A PhD in mineral deposit research is required, experience as a post-doctoral fellow is an asset. A publication record commensurate with experience is expected. Fieldwork (mapping/core logging), magmatic/ metamorphic/ ore petrology, lithogeochmistry, stable/radiogenic isotope geochemistry, fluid inclusion microthermometry, and geochronology are areas of interest to contribute to the Chair's research program.

The successful candidate will join the Chair's team for up to 5 years. The Research Associate (RA) will carry studies to understand the formation of orogenic gold deposits to complement on-going research or to address new questions brought up by on-going studies. The RA will integrate the results of related studies into reports and publications for scientific journals. The RA will contribute to training in the field (Nunavut, Abitibi) and in the laboratory of the Chair's graduate students. The RA will collaborate with the Chair's coordinator to organize the team's academic activities.

The salary is determined by the collective bargaining agreement with Université Laval. In that framework, we expect the RA to qualify for level III, with gross salary between 60 000 and 85 000$, and a comprehensive package of benefits. The employment will be based on renewable annual contracts, for up to 5 years.
