Research Scientist in Modeling of coupled subsurface processes

The Department of Reservoir Technology focuses on researching and developing new solutions for the green transformation of oil and gas production and the transition to renewable energy resources by utilizing the reservoirs for energy production and storage, CO2, and other waste disposals.
We have a diverse project portfolio being a partner in four major Norwegian National Research centres (SFI SWIPA Centre for Subsurface Well Integrity, Plugging and Abandonment, SFI earthresQue - SFI earthresQue - Centre for Rescue of Earth Materials and Waste in the Circular Economy, NCS2030 – National Centre for Sustainable Subsurface Utilization of the Norwegian Shelf, Hydrogen Research Centre FME HYDROGENi).
We host the EU-funded international project ACT CEMENTEGRITY. The competence of the researchers and technical personnel in the department is varied and encompasses:
The area of work will be focused on modeling sustainable subsurface energy systems. It will involve the development of a code for numerical simulation of THMC Thermal-Hydrologic- Mechanical-Chemical processes in porous media. The candidate will also contribute to performing and generating research projects with the team. It is desirable that the candidate has an established professional network and can initiate new contacts and collaborations with industry and scientific partners. The candidate must lead and generate successful research projects, including coordination of project teams, management, and scientific leadership. Experience with European, Norwegian and international research programs, funding schemes, and industrial research projects is required.
We are looking for someone with a Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as mathematics, informatics, physics, or geology. You should have experience with or at least a passionate interest for
In addition to the qualifications, the right candidate should also be passionate about geology and geological processes, able to work independently and within the research team, take the initiative, be highly result and solution-oriented, and be motivated to solve technical challenges around them. The candidate should also have good presentation and communication (oral and written) skills in English, and knowledge of Norwegian will be an advantage.
