About the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO)

The UKHO is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world's oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations.

The role

This role sits within the International Validation Team - part of the International Centre for Electronic Navigational Charts. The team works closely with our regional offices in Australia, Brazil and the United States and presents a great opportunity to work with a growing international team. The team is specifically responsible for the quality control of digital chart products supplied by producing organisations. With an increasing throughput of data, we now require a Data Validator to join the UK based team.

You will work with international colleagues to deliver validation services to International Centre for Electronic Navigational Charts members, using problem solving and analytical skills to validate maritime data products and provide guidance to International Centre for Electronic Navigational Charts members.

In this role, you will receive full training in the validation of Electronic Navigational Charts which will cover the relevant standards as well as the specific software tools we use. The role also offers pathways for progression into either a Data Manager role or a Senior Data Validator role.

To be considered for this role you will need a good understanding of geographic data principles, such as vector data capture and attribution. You will also need a good understanding of data quality assurance requirements and procedures, as well as experience and training in geospatial software tools and data.

In return

UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential. While our projects are career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional.
